My telerotation was a great experience where I practiced history taking with interpreters and had the opportunity to discuss and document interesting clinical cases with the SOAP note format. JCMI opens doors for various opportunities within the US Health care system for an IMG. I initially joined the rotation for a period of one month and because of the learning opportunities here, I extended it for a period of 3 months in person and I even joined the virtual externship after my return to India. The JCMI preceptor gives the externs not only the clinical experience but also various crucial aspects of the US Healthcare system which are unfamiliar to an IMG. Training on the EHR use, administrative documents and the use of interpreter services are few examples of it. On the basis of performance, I have got various other opportunities like volunteering as the IMG Chief under JCMF, a foundation focusing on underserved population throughout the globe. Overall, JCMI helped me develop both professionally and personally, which I'm going to cherish forever. I would be forever grateful to JCMI for all the opportunities here.
